THE UC HOSPITALITY AND TOURISM MANAGEMENT ENTHUSIAST SKILLS COMPETITION 2016 REFLECTION

“Experience is the best teacher” one of the most popular quotations that most people say whenever they are in a certain activity or situation, indeed I agree with it, we can’t say that things are way too difficult nor easy if we did not experience it, we can’t even tell to ourselves that we can’t do such thing if we never tried to do so.

Last July 18-22, 2016 UC CHTM students were able to present their different talents and skills that are composed of different elements. Though there are lots of participants who were not able to come during the scheduled competition of their chosen event because of different reasons the competition was still pushed through. With the efforts of every participant, they were able to come up with different outputs that are too creative and unique. Behind the scenes are also individuals from events class trying to work hand and hand to come up with a beautiful event. With all the pressures that they feel from the activity and from other people they were still able to do their job and responsibility and of course with the help of our instructor and our co-students.

I learned a lot from this activity, honestly, during the event, I felt I am already in the tourism field working and I enjoyed it so much. During the event, I also met new friends and was able to practice a little bit of my knowledge about service. The event is quite tiring so to speak but it’s all worth it because I enjoyed everything that I learned from the activity. It’s a big privilege on my part to experience such things because I know that this won’t happen again. Maybe we are to hold more events in the future but this event is so good to compare.

Thank you so much to our instructor Mr. Argie Tilap who had sacrificed a lot for the success of the event. To Ms. Lyneth Ferrer who did so much on and before the event day, to all event students who were able to do their best just to have a good result of the event, and to all participants thank you for your cooperation. All your efforts are well appreciated. Thank you for the experience, thank you for the challenge, and thank you for the friendship that was formed during the said activity.

  SYMBOLS FOUND IN THE COVER OF NOLI ME TANGERE: ·    Upper Triangle - Represents Rizal’s past life and everything he saw and experience during the Spanish colonization. ·    Silhouette of a Filipina - Believed to be Maria Clara or as the motherland who witnessed and experienced the history of the country. ·       Cross or Crucifix- Symbolizes sufferings and death and represents the Catholic faith as it rises above motherland and Filipinos.
